Purpose-built for efficient, reliable mouse tail vein injections
The Mouse Tail Vein Injection Restrainer was developed from more than a decade of experience and thousands of tail vein injections performed by expert animal technicians. By combining the most effective features of existing restraint methods into a single refined design, the Animal Restrainer provides secure immobilization, improved animal positioning, and convenient access to the lateral tail veins.
Unlike traditional cylindrical restrainers, its rectangular body prevents the animal from rolling. The device can be placed securely on either side to position the desired lateral tail vein upward, providing the technician with a stable and ergonomic working orientation. The rectangular chamber also offers additional interior space to accommodate animals with flank tumors.
At the center of the design is a specialized head cone, rather than a conventional nose cone. The open geometry encourages the mouse to advance its entire head into the cone, helping immobilize both the head and body without pinching or obstructing the animal’s nose. This provides effective restraint while reducing the risk of compromised breathing associated with improperly positioned nose cones.
A sliding, removable trap door and detachable head cone support simple head-first loading and unloading. Together, these features make the JC Animal Restrainer a practical and technician-informed solution for laboratories performing routine mouse tail vein injections.
